The Design Goals and Brief

Goal 1: to make this place the real square again and to make people meet there
Goal 2: to make people to interact there, using digital media

The traffic was the main problem, so we wanted to isolate the central part of the square from the traffic and noise it causes. Because of it, we decided to make one water wall at the side of the road, which will visually devide the square from the street. Beside this water wall, we decided to create some multifunctional benches where people can lay or sit and children can play. We decided also to offer some kind of digital media for free downloading from the Internet and sending messages that could be publicly presented (displayed) on the sides of benches. It is a some kind of city diary concept, because the messages are going to stay for 24 hours. We wanted to provoke people to use public space for expressing their opinions, wishes, thoughts annonymously.
