Project 5: Deep Split

The main characteristic we noticed while observing Split's citizens is their "slowness" and "calmness". We noticed that they walk slowly and heavily which look like moving under water. Our Split's hybrid version is called DeepSplit, a city under-water.

DeepSplit is anti-evolution (we came from water and we are returning to water). Let's take an example: the economy. Time is the most important value in Split. So we have created an economic system based only on time. People exchange their time in order to buy or sell goods. We did some real life experiments to try out this system.

We also created various simulations of moving under water so citizens of Split could experience what DeepSplit would be like. For this, we used bags filled with flour to demonstrate the weight of water pressure and we asked citizens of Split to fill blue plastic bags we gave them, with air.

We filled a small space in the city with these bags, and encouraged citizens of real Split to experience a small part of DeepSplit that they participated to create.
