Design Concept

Interactive swing stall

During selling hours, the swing would be used as a stall. After working hours the stall would empty and serve as a swing. When used it would produce sounds depending on the speed of the swings.

It would make the space between the stalls and the wall, which are unexploited, more accessible to people. This would change the movement in the space by creating a new flow influenced by people attracted by the swing, moving through it.

Interactive plastic bag

When goods are placed into this bag an illuminated picture of the equivalent food or vegetable is shown on its surface. In the market as people pass each other by, differnt goods in their bags interact with each other on the surface of the bag. This interaction may encourage people to interact with each other based on something very common to the market place itself - plastic bags.

The mood seat

This seat would measure the level of enjoyment in the market as workplace and provide the message indicating the sellers' mood. If the color indicator is showing red the seller's mood is low. If the indicator shows green light the level of enjoyment is high. In theory it would encourage buyers to open conversations with sellers that are happy to interact and tell stories.

Focusing on the complexity of the market the groups' conclusion was that we should attempt to enhance the buyer/seller communication using message boards.

Messages written on the board would be placed on the stalls with the intention to provoke people to stop, speak and buy.
