interakcije split interaction

At first the kids where shy and hesitated to explore the "caterpillar" but approached it one by one, after a while they started to interact with it in groups of 2 or 3.

The biggest problem was that they didn't know that they should talk into the "caterpillar", so we had to explain to a couple of kids what they need to do, and we recorded there voices. The kids that we explained what they had to do told the other children what was going on. At that point the kids started to interact with the caterpillar the way it was intended, they screamed, sang songs and told jokes...

After a while a group of boys formed and swarmed the "caterpillar". Their main aim was to kick it, pull it out, and basically destroy it, and they settled down only with our direct intervention.

But the biggest reaction was when we played back the recordings to the kids. The interest level rose dramatically and they finally understood the purpose of the "caterpillar".

The general attitude towards the "caterpillar" was very positive, both from the children and from their parents.

There weren't as many people in the night testing as there where in the day time so only a small number of people approached the lights in the sand. The ones that did approach where very intrigued and mystified with the lights in the sand, and when we activated the recordings of the children which where mostly screams, got pretty spooked, but after the initial scare they where very interested in what was going on. Most of them said that it was very cool and morbid, but failed to understand its true purpose. Instead of getting the impression that there where kids that play there in the day time they got the impression that the children where buried in the sand.
